    Hire The President!

The man behind LetzGoOut.com, the one behind all of the coding, development, marketing and direction of this site is relocating to the Central Connecticut area, and will be in the market for new full-time employment.

Hello. My name is Brian Davey, and I’ve been working with the Internet since it entered into the mainstream. I’ve worked for photography and design companies, an internet service provider, a transportation company, and over the past 8 years, I’ve worked for two NYC based publishing companies, one in the financial industry, one in medical publications, where I built and supported numerous content driven web sites.

Additionally, as you can see by the existence of this site, I am a self-motivated and enthusiastic developer who enjoys taking on some elaborate projects outside of my full-time employment. This site was originally conceived as an experiment to familiarize myself with a technology we were about to start using at my current job. Not wanting to be stuck behind a steep learning curve, I took it upon myself to build, at the time, a simple site using DotNetNuke, an ASP.NET based portal development environment. What eventually grew out of that is the site you see here.

The site has since grown from a learning tool to a very satisfying hobby that I’ve taken much enjoyment in creating and enhancing. I’ve experimented with shoestring-budget marketing ideas and learned volumes about search engine optimization. I’ve taken a hands-on approach with welcoming new members to the site. I’ve created a system I’m quite proud of for improving inbound linking by providing credits to our homebuilt banner advertising system, built mostly out of a desire for full control of functionality but also partially due to a lack of funding to purchase a comparable system. I’ve also been able to curb my desire to code everything with this site, and have purchased some less central components to the site where the cost of such pieces compared to the time it would take to build them myself made the decision simple, preferring to be results-oriented rather than process-oriented, and being focused on efficiency and the bottom line.

So, what am I looking for today?

Well, I’m very happy where I am today, and, if not for my need to relocate, I would be quite happy staying where I am now. Since I am relocating, however, I’d probably like to work in an environment similar to the one I am in today. I currently work primarily with ASP.NET 2.0 and MS-SQL Server 2005, with some Classic ASP, .NET 1.1 and SQL 2000 in my standard day to day activities. Of course, throughout my career, I’ve also shown that I am eager to learn new technologies, and will often take the initiative to do so before they are adopted at a corporate level.

Additionally, at my current employer, I have been the administrator of our bulk email system, managing the operation of the system and working closely with our marketing divisions, assisting in improving the performance of marketing campaigns, maintaining compliance with corporate privacy policies and ensuring adherence to best practices in the often abused realm of bulk email marketing.

In my next job, I would like to see myself continuing my role as a developer working as part of a team on complex sites, either as the leader of these projects, or as a senior developer. I work well with others and consider myself to have excellent communications skills, especially for someone who has been in a developer IT departments for the past 12 years.

If you’d like to discuss a job opportunity, I’d love to hear from you. I can be reached at brian@letzgoout.com.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
