So, a 29 year old woman from LetzGoOut.com's own home state of CT was arrested and charged with her second DUI charge.

Ok, yeah, that sucks, but it's not terribly uncommon for someone to net their second DUI by their thirtieth, you might think, but then we tell you that her first DUI charge was only a few hours earlier. Then you’re all like, “Wait… what? Seriously?” and we’re like, “yeah, that’s what I said…”

Yes, this is true. In Farmington, CT, April 19, 2009, shortly after 1:00AM, the subject of our story was pulled over. She was said to be more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with operating under the influence, had her license confiscated, and suspended her driving privileges for 24 hours.

She was released on bond and presumed to have been getting a ride from a friend.

Then shortly before 4AM, she was pulled over again, about a half mile from her previous arrest, not three hours earlier.

So, as a fellow Nutmegger, (that’s somebody from CT, for those unfamiliar with the term) I have a few problems with this story.

First – 24 hours suspension for 2x the legal limit? Seriously? I mean, I know, innocent til proven guilty, but without bail, they can incarcerate you until trial. Are you telling me they don’t take your license away until trial? Even when testing at twice the legal limit?

Then, she’s arrested for driving at twice the legal limit. We all make mistakes, but being twice the legal limit is a fairly big lapse of judgment… Wouldn’t they want to hold her until perhaps her judgment improved a little?

Now, we can’t completely blame the FPD for the fact that after that one bad decision to drive while intoxicated that she would then make the next chronically bad decision to, once again, while still over the limit, attempt to drive again in the same night – on the same buzz, but really…

If that pic is the arresting officer, I'd get busted a second time too.
